The essence of the company
The company was founded in 1950 as a subsidiary of the state company "to -al".
The company's business area is defined as the existence domestic flights.
Financial situation
Until the 70 company was operationally profitable company which has developed and expanded its activities.
In the mid-70's, despite the revenue stream from its customers, the Company entered into operating losses, debts and deficits, a situation that eventually led to privatization.
Privatization factors (causes of the dismal financial situation of the company in the 70)
1.tzmtzom Defense Ministry's demand Arkia services (security office would use in order to fly the soldiers, the trend in the '70s was to expand the use of airpower for this purpose)
2. רכישה של 2 מטוסים חדישים שלא לצורך שלא הצדיקה את עצמה מבחינת ביקושים. הדבר גרם להפסד בשל הוצאות פחת והוצאות מימון גבוהות.
3.עלייה של מחירי הדלק בעולם ( באמצע שנות ה70 ) אשר גרמה להכפלת הוצאות החברה על הדלק למטוסים
4. מתן כרטיסים מוזלים והנחות ללקוחות מסוימים
5.הוצאות גבוהות על משכורות ותנאי עבודה מועדפים של העובדים.

How privatization
כל החברה הועברה לידיים פרטיות , כאשר רוב המניות נמכרו לקבוצת יזמים פרטיים תמורת 5 מיליון דולר (מהם כ3.5 מליון נועדו לכיסוי חובות) ומקצתם הועברו לידי העובדים (שבהתחלה גילו התנגדות למהלך ההפרטה). בעקבות ההפרטה חזרה החברה להיות חברה רווחית וזאת הודות לצעדי התייעלות(כגון סגירת קווי תעופה לא רווחיים וצעדי התייעלות במערך התחזוקה) והתרחבות שביצעו בעליה החדשים של החברה. כיום החברה עוסקת לא רק בטיסות פנים אלה גם בטיסות בין לאומיות,בשיווק חבילות תיור,בזריעת עננים להורדת הגשם,צילומי אויר ועוד.
